Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening

The Health Department encourages regular screenings for breast and cervical, which save the lives of many women each year. Eligible clients are able to receive clinical breast exams, mammograms, and Pap tests through the Early Detections Works Programs which pays for breast and cervical cancer screenings for Kansas women who:

  • Are 40-64 years of age
  • Do not have health insurance
  • Meet program income guidelines:

Women who meet age and income guidelines should call the Early Detection Works toll-free number: 1-877-277-1368 to receive an enrollment number. Clients should call the Health Department: (785) 762-5788 for a clinical breast exam after receiving the enrollment number from Early Detection Works. The Health Department clinicians and nurses will refer clients who need further services based on exam results.

Women under age 40 can receive a clinical breast exam and Pap test at the Health Department. Health Department fees are based on client income. The Health Department can refer clients under 40 and at risk for mammograms through the Susan G. Komen Program. The Health Department clinicians and nurses will refer clients who need further services based on exam results.
